The Myth of Ophiuchus

Ophiuchus is a descendant constellation from what the Babylonians called Nirah, a serpent god who was sometimes depicted as a serpent, or with serpents for legs. However, the earliest mention of Ophiuchus is in Aratus, from the last catalogue of Eudoxus of Cnidue (4th century BC, from Greece), and is sometimes associated with the Greek god Apollo fighting the snake that guarded the Oracle of Delphi.
